Amarillo 'Slim' Preston

  United States

Amarillo 'Slim' Preston has had a long and decorated career, if a troubled personal life. He is also acknowledged as one of the main reasons why poker is as huge as it is today. First breaking on the scene in 1972 when he won the World Series of Poker Championship, Slim was the star of the poker circuit. Always naturally witty and outspoken, he followed his victory up by appearing on numerous talk shows and got the word out there. He drew attention to the world of poker and placed it in the mainstream arena. Slim has always promoted the sport and will probably continue to do so until his dying day, but he is equally well known within the world of poker for his ability!
